400m resolution ACCESS limited-area simulation over Australia
Description
Results from the Aus400 weather simulation, a very high resolution (400m grid spacing) simulation of the atmosphere over Australia during a 60 hour period covering the landfall of Tropical Cyclone Debbie.
The simulation is intended to provide insight into atmospheric processes at a wide range of scales, from continent-wide to sub-kilometer. The period was chosen to cover a range of weather events, including the tropical cyclone, a front system over the SE and a large storm over the NW.
Outputs include 2d variables at 10 minute resolution and 3d variables at 1 hour resolution, covering the full domain. Also included are the 2.2km grid spacing simulation used as an intermediate between BARRA reanalysis data and the target resolution, and a small ensemble of 2.2km grid spacing simulations covering the same period for statistical analysis.
