Collaborative REAnalysis Technical Environment Intercomparison Project (CREATE-IP)
Description
The Collaborative REAnalysis Technical Environment (CREATE) is a NASA Climate Model Data Services (CDS) project to collect all available global reanalysis data into one centralized location on NASA's NCCS Advanced Data Analytics Platform (ADAPT), standardizing data formats, providing analytic capabilities, visualization analysis capabilities, and overall improved access to multiple reanalysis datasets. The CREATE project encompasses two efforts - CREATE-IP and CREATE-V.
CREATE-IP is the project that collects and formats the reanalyses data. The list of variables currently available in CREATE-IP is growing over time so please check back frequently.
CREATE-IP is distributed by the Earth System Grid Federation (ESGF). The Earth System Grid Federation (https://esgf.llnl.gov/) is a collaboration of international institutions that maintains the infrastructure to manage and disseminate the Coupled Model Intercomparison Project (CMIP) and related MIP datasets.
The CREATE project contains seven global reanalyses (CFSR, ERA-Interim, JRA-25, JRA-55, MERRA, MERRA-2, 20CRv2c). Selected variables at model levels are standardized in the CMIP format and maintained. Four of the reanalyses are updated bi-monthly; MERRA and JRA-25 have ended and are superseded by the newer models MERRA-2 and JRA-55, respectively. 20CRv2c ended in 2010.
